Your Fascias, Soffits and Guttering are a very important system which fix on to the bottom of your roof, otherwise known as your 'Roofline'. At Cestria Roofing we always remind our customers the importance of keeping their roofline well maintained; this system serves an extremely important role of keeping your roof efficient and water tight:
There are a wide variety of options to chose from when picking your roofline materials, from different depths of guttering to different coloured Fascias. All can be customised to suit your preference and budget.
Your Fascia Board is a straight board of timber which fixes directly to the feet of your roof trusses (Bottom of your roof structure). It has an important job of supporting your tiles/slates which allows them to efficiently carry water into your guttering. Keeping your Fascias regularly maintained prevents a number of issues such as:
Fascias can be installed using FIbre Cement Board, Cedar or Aluminum. It can then be customised to suit you; ranging from different colours to different type of material. The most popular option is PVC cover board due to it's cost effectiveness, durability and kerb appeal.
Your guttering system is attached directly to your Fascia Boards. Modern day guttering is made up of UPVC but Cast Iron and Stainless Steel can also be used. Gutters have an important job to do in funneling water down to your underground drain via down pipes. Gutters are aligned to a certain degree to allow this process. If gutters are wrongly aligned or damaged at certain points, water could pool and over flow the edges which can cause foundation problems, as well as potentially backtracking into your soffit space, brick work and living space. Cestria Roofing can ensure your gutters are correctly maintained to allow the system to work efficiently.
The Soffit is tucked away under the fascia board. It is usually the board that you see most of from street level. The function of a soffit is to help in ventilating your loft space, it typically features small holes which allow the air to cycle to the vents thereby drawing moisture and heat away. This is extremely vital as moisture in your loft space can lead to rotting in the rafters and sheathing. Alternatively, if no ventilation is present on your Soffits, it can be provided over the top of the fascia board using ventilation strips which can be attached mechanically.
